About Jochem

I am a driven Interaction and UX/UI designer, with many years of experience in HTML and CSS and several modern web technologies. Besides designing for all kinds of on- and offline projects, I have been a consultant in the fields of usability, user experience (UX) and social media. I am a master in translating the customer’s needs and requirements to highly professional designed layouts. My Arts Academy background gives me the right foundation to thrive in multidisciplinary IT-business environments and I will seize every opportunity to demonstrate the value of design by delivering a top notch design or by advising the customer about do’s or don’ts and best practices for design-related matters.
I also have a passion for photography.

The start

I started my carreer as a graphic designer for a wholesale company, but soon I discovered I had a passion for new media. In 2000, I joined an advertising agency and started working for internet start-up SindsMorgen, a joint-venture between the advertising agency and Carthago ICT, a Java and .Net software company.
Later on, I specialized in web design. After a few successful years at SindsMorgen, at the time fully integrated in Carthago ICT, the time was right to make a transfer to BPMi, an IT company with HQ in The Hague. At BPMi, I had the opportunity to work with Enterprise CMS system SwordFish CMS amongst other open source systems like WordPress and was able to expand my knowledge about content management solutions, usability and UX.

As of March 2010, I started working as senior designer at Edition1, where I managed all kinds of projects and became art director. In november 2012, I became co-owner and managing partner. I was involved in visual, interaction and UX design and development of websites, mobile applications, web portals and social media projects.
